The second edition of La noción de dios en el Timeo de Platón encapsulates the author's recent research, with a new Introduction that brings out the importance of the Timaeus with regard to the mind-body relation and to Plato's late ethics as well as providing fresh and illuminating perspectives on the problems of creation and of the Demiurge, whose philosophical meaning, ontological status, and relation to other levels of divinity are closely analyzed in the remainder of the book. Gabriela R Carone obtained her PhD at King's College London and has been a Philosophy Professor at the University of Buenos Aires and the University of Colorado at Boulder, as well as a Laurance S. Rockefeller Fellow at the Center for Human Values, Princeton University. She has been the recipient of numerous international prizes and awards in Argentina, England and the USA, from among others the British Council, Fundacion Antorchas, CONICET, the Center for Hellenic Studies, Harvard University, and a one-year professorial Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Her work covers various aspects of early, middle and late Plato. She is the author of Plato's Cosmology and Its Ethical Dimensions (Cambridge University Press, 2005), recently translated into Portuguese (ed. Loyola, São Paolo, 2008), and of numerous articles on Plato's ethics, moral psychology, metaphysics and cosmology in leading international journals such as Phronesis, Oxford Studies in Ancient Philosophy, Classical Quarterly, Archiv für Geschichte der Philosophie, The Review of Metaphysics, Environmental Ethics, Canadian Journal of Philosophy, as well as chapters in collections from Oxford and Harvard University Press.

Gabriela R. Carone obtuvo su doctorado en el King's College de Londres y ha sido Profesora docente en la Universidad de Buenos Aires y en la University of Colorado, Boulder (USA), así como Laurance S. Rockefeller Fellow del Center for Human Values, Princeton University. Su investigación ha merecido numerosos premios y becas en Argentina, Inglaterra y Estados Unidos, tales como del British Council, la Fundación Antorchas, el CONICET, el Center for Hellenic Studies, Harvard University, y la beca de un año para profesores del National Endowment for the Humanities (USA). Su trabajo cubre variados aspectos del Platón temprano, medio y tardío. Es autora de Plato's Cosmology and Its Ethical Dimensions (Cambridge University Press, 2005), recientemente traducido al portugués (ed.
